piCorePlayer questions

$

First I'd like to say I do not have a detailed knowledge about RaspberryPi, PicorePlayer, LMS but somehow a few years ago I managed to change LMS from my Nas (QNAP TS269pro) to a Raspberry Pi 3. The reason for the change was that the plugin Spotty didn't work with my NAS, and now it works (nearly) perfect. Because I didn't know how to install PiCorePlayer and how to mount my NAS I googled an installation video. Everything works fine. But I have a few questions.

1. Recently I discovered that whenever I add a song to an existing playlist or when I create a new playlist, the changes remain but then they disappear when I do a scan of my Medialibrary. In the settings of PiCorePlayer/LMS I see that my sharetype is CIFS. Will switching this to NFS solve the problem or isn't this very simple?

2. My PiCorePlayer is v.3.21. I noticed that 6.0 is available. Is there an easy way to update? Should I copy my settings from the different screens? Or is it not very necessary to update? As I said I'm not very good at it and to get this thing going the first time took quite some time. I think I installed a SD-memory card but do not know now how I dit it.

3. My LMS version is 7.9.1 but I can see that there is a newer version. I always update via the PicorePlayer button but version 7.9.3 is not installed. Is there a reason for it? am I doing something wrong? I wonder whether it is preferable / possible to update to LMS 8.0.

'Official' docker container for LMS?

I'm not too much of a Docker expert myself. Last time I looked into
existing images I thought many of them lacked on the update level. If
you could provide a good, working image, which allowed for easy
updating, was truely platform agnostic etc. that would be great. And I
would certainly consider supporting it.

pcp-6.0.0-www.tcz is mounted on /tmp/tcloop/pcp-6.0.0.-www. But it's
almost empty. Only has a few libedit related files/links in there.

Pi 2B

That didn't help.

Overlay for DAC audiophonics i-sabre ES9023 in PcP 6.0.0?

$

Hi everyone,

I recently had my first experiences with PiCorePlayer as server+player and I am very impressed.
I was using a DAC Audiophonics i-sabre ES9023. They have some instructions to install the DAC on PiCorePlayer:
Audiophonics tutorial DAC PiCorePlayer

These instructions from 2017 are a bit outdated and refer to PcP 3.20. However I notice that on their screenshots, the choice of audio interfaces in PcP menus for squeezelite includes:
"I-Sabre-ES9023 DAC"

This overlay choice is not in PcP 6.0.0. Choosing "ESS 9023 DAC" instead works, but there are no configuration options available.

Does anyone know why the I-sabre-ES9023 was removed?

Thanks, Marc

Make sure you follow the instructions precisely. It's really what you
need to do. There aren't any other instructions...

USB disks not remounted on a software reboot

I am preparing my new LMS server using a :
Pi4 ( 4 GB) , PCP6.0 fresh install, new powered USB3 hub, 2 or possibly more usb3 disks
And after some powercable and powersupplyunit problems I have a stable HW platform, Copied a few hundred gig with no visible issue.
And although the disks are always auto-mounted on a power-up boot, I do not get the disks to mount on a software reboot.

Before the powered hub, I could not get 2 disks to work reliably though the pi. But with only one disk a reboot was not an issue.

Is this issue something that has to do with PCP ? Or is this common with powered hubs ?
It seems the disks are not reset, but i am not sure this is true and how I can determine it.
Suggestions and solutions are welcome.

( Perhaps I should boot and reboot another linux distro to see if this is HW or PCP related. )

Hi all
First thank you for piCorePlayer !!

I updated today pCP to version 6.0 and I am experiencing an issue.
I can not access to the picoreplayer tab :lms.cgi, it's like charging but not responding (I tried on several browser and reboot twice LMS)
I can access to LMS (7.9.2) via the ip address with 192.168.X.XX:9000 but not the setting tab in the picoreplayer interface (192.168.X.XX/cgi-bin/lms.cgi).
Every other tabs are working, just this one.
LMS is working (I am listening to the music right now).

Do you have any idea about what is happening?

Thank you and have a good day

piCorePlayer Jivelite with Waveshare 5.5" AMOLED touchscreen landscape orientation

Hi, I spent many hours trying to get piCorePlayer to accept the orientation of my touch screen (display and mouse function).
The resolution is 1920x1080 and pCP is working actually fine however when I rotated the display by 90 degrees the mouse (touch function) doesn't turn.
So basically I see the mouse but left and right moves up and down.

I followed this website:

https://www.thefanclub.co.za/how-to/...ed-touchscreen

in setting my screen up and the calibration as well as a test right after the calibration worked perfectly.
The mouse is moving according to landscape format.
However when I boot and run piCorePlayer the mouse is wrong again (portrait orientation) whereby the screen is correctly turned to landscape.

I checked the calibration files and they were saved as requested.

I very much would appreciate your suggestion on this matter.

Hello,

I would like to program in picoreplayer the extinction of LMS from 23:00 to 6:00.

I think that with a cli command it is possible, but I do not know the command.

Can someone help me?

Thank you

I guess that's the new credentials you got, not the broken one? Would
you have backups you can restore?

MusicIP on Raspberry Pi 4

$

I just installed my first Pi and running LMS 7.9.2 - all is good. However, on my Windows 10 LMS server, I run MusicIP as well and thought that the installation was pretty straightforward. I have seen some posts that go thru steps on installing MusicIP on a Pi/Linux but they are way above my skill set. Are there any simple steps for doing this installation? Thanks.

PiCorePlayer isn't showing up in my logitech media server - can you help?

Hello,

My System Specs

I am running logitech media server 7.92 - running on Debian 9

I am running PiCorePlayer v5.0.0 - running on Raspberry Pi Zero with Phat DAC

My Issues / Problem

Everything was working fine. I didn't use my LMS for a couple of weeks and when I turn it on now there is no player registering in logitech media server,

Can anyone help me trouble shoot this please?

I am really missing my music and even more so all the wonderful radio stations that I like to listen to.

Thank you for your help :)

Additional thought
P.S I think the issue may be in the PiCorePlayer, under Squeezelite settings, what should the drop down be set to, mine seems to have defaulted to HiFiBerry DAC Zero / MiniAMP

Which is the advantage to switch from Lms 7.9.2 to 7.9.3 or 8.0?

> different versions.

As if there was a policy :-). But here's what I try to do:

- important stuff breaking 7.9 is fixed in 7.9, as long as 8.0 is not
considered a stable release

- more exotic fixes only go in to 8 (and might be back-ported at some
later point)

- new features go in to 8

No tools req'd: Old router with OpenWRT and squeezelite

$

I have an old TP-Link 3600 router, installed a recent OpenWRT (19.07) and attached a Behringer UCA 202 USB audio interface.
Squeezelite is in the OpenWRT's repo.

opkg update
opkg install kmod-usb-audio
opkg install squeezelite-full

I added
option server_addr 'myLMSip'
in
/etc/config/squeezelite

Works like a charm. Squeezelite ist automatically started after boot. CPU load is at about 7 to 10%.

Since the Behringer UCA 202 (still available for about 30 EUR) has TOSLink I use the high quality DAC of my MOTU UltraLite AVB.

I tried a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 1st gen instead of the Behringer and wasn't satisfied. I couldn't find any parms that provide reliable, crackle-free playback. Maybe the Scarlett's power consumption is a bit high. It's bus powered like the Behringer.

piCorePlayer 6.x.x - Bluetooth

Bluetooth has grown into its own animal, so I would like to separate the conversation regarding Bluetooth stuff. If you have problems, please paste the whole bluetooth log. There is information in the log header that is critical for diagnosis.

Current Capabilities.

Speaker - A2DP Source - Play from piCorePlayer to a bluetooth connected speaker.
Player - A2DP Sink - Play directly from your phone or other bluetooth music sourc to pCP. pCP is now a speaker for your device. In this mode settings for sound output come from the squeezlite page. The Output setting is critical.
Streamer - A2DP Sink - Play from your phone to a web stream. LMS can play that stream to any number of LMS connected devices/groups.

When pCP is playing direct from your phone. A2DP volume control is implemented for certain devices (iPhones work) If your DAC on your pCP device supports hardware volume control, that is the volume that will be adjusted. Android based devices will control the volume before bluetooth transmission.

Wireguard in PCP

$

Recently I experimented with wireguard, and found it to be quite simple to get woking and it is a lean VPN.
As PCP isn't built for security , a VPN could be a safe way to connect to your PCP setup from hostile networks.

Searching for wireguard in this and the core forums makes me believe it isn't been discussed jet.
Has anyone tried it and can post the results,
Or can anyone help me to get a compatible binary for PCP ?

I do not compile myself, but there are quite a lot of supported versions already : https://www.wireguard.com/install/
and wireguard made it into the kernel. https://itsfoss.com/linux-kernel-5-6/
So I assume it is not impossible or extra difficult to get it working with pcp.

LMS8.0 on Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 - DSDPlayer Plugin does not work

$

Dear all,

I already found some information in the forum about the DSD topic - but did not manage to solve it up to now.
My environment:
Raspberry 3B+ with Raspian 9 on Linux version 4.19.66-v7+
LMS 8.0 installed from http://downloads-origin.slimdevices....578181_arm.deb
DSDPlayer 1.0.1 Plugin installed
piCore Player 6.0 as a client

In the SETTINGS on LMS8 the system tells me that DSDPLAYER cannot be configured on this server - and that is my problem :-(
DSDPlayer does not currently include a version of dsdplay which supports your server. DSD playback has been disabled for this player.

Also in SETTINGS for file types I see DSF/DFF on "Native" without a chance to map to other file types...

I think it has something to do with the SOX library - but if someone has a step-by-step guideline for a Raspberry that would be really appreciated!

THX for your help in advance!

piCorePlayer 2nd Wifi USB Dongle

Did not find this in search so forgive me if it has been covered before.

Will piCorePlayer recognize a second Wifi connection through a USB Wifi dongle? I have an application where I would like to have WAP enabled for phone control and another Wifi connection for internet access. This will be on a Pi3B+.

Thanks

The USB stick will suffer the same risk of getting corrupted as the SD
card does. It won't solve that problem.

Adding an USB 3/4G dongle to PiCorePlayer how to?

$

As title; did some googling without finding any specific details for a PCP. Is it possible?

I fully understand that PCP is "just a Linux computer" and sure enough found many sites/threads about adding usb modems to a Rpi in general but nothing PcP specific.

Anyone who have an idea of how to do it? Have an "old" Huawei modem I would like to try with, not sure of the exact model but it's a 3G only. Works fine in WIN and OS X.

Please keep any answer at an basic level since I'm a Linux novice. Any step-by-step link would be really helpful.

My Linux level is type :managed to get a Rpi 3B running with PcP 6 and found it pretty straightforward.
